  • "Ambler Ambulance" Remembers George Hayeck, Executive Director

    Ambler, PA - It is with deep sadness and regret that Community Ambulance Association, Ambler announces the passing of Executive Director George Hayeck. 

    George S. Hayeck, 67, of Lower Gwynedd, died on September 23, 2009 at Abington Hospice at Warminster.

    He was the beloved husband of Louise M. (Harmer) Hayeck for 44 years. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ on December 8, 1941 to the late George S. and Esther (Infantino) Hayeck.

    In 2007, George's journey in Emergency Medical Services began here at Ambler Ambulance when he was selected by the board of directors, to serve as the organization's first executive director.  While he had no prior experience in emergency medical services, it was his past professional accomplishments, education, and commitment to public safety that made him an excellent addition to our team.

    In addition to his employment with Ambler Ambulance, for the past 12 years George served as an elected Township Supervisor in Lower Gwynedd Township and an advocate to public safety. He established the Emergency Services Committee of Lower Gwynedd Township.

    "George was not only an advocate for all emergency services, but a friend to the first responders of Community Ambulance Association, Ambler, Lower Gwynedd Police Department, North Penn and Wissahickon Fire Companies. and Montgomery County EMS Administrators.", said Jerry H. Wagner, Jr.. Deputy Chief and past chief of Community Ambulance Association, Ambler.

    George was a graduate of Cranford High School in NJ and attended Fairleigh Dickenson University. Previously, he was the was the former owner and operator of Hayeck’s Café in Maple Glen for 13 years. During that time, he formed the Maple Glen Business and Prof. Assoc. and the Maple Glen Village Assoc.  Prior to the restaurant business, he was Assistant Vice President of Human Resources for Liberty Mutual. 

    George is well known throughout the communities of Ambler Borough, Lower Gwynedd, and Upper Dublin Townships.  He was a member and Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Ambler; he chaired the Lower Gwynedd Country Picnic for 8 years; he served on the Board of Celesta Performing Arts and the Bethlehem Pike Improvement Committee; and was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Ambler. 

    In addition to his wife Louise, he is survived by 3 children: Sara Moylett and husband Michael of Honey Brook, PA, George T. Hayeck of Lansdale, PA, Garry T. Hayeck and wife Kari of Germantown, MD, 9 grandchildren: Stephen, Jennifer, Nicole, and Lauren Moylett, Meghan, Brett, Madison, Gillian and Mackenzie Hayeck, a brother Frederick Hayeck and wife Deborah, a sister Carole Brown and husband Bud all of Cranford, NJ, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
